An Aussie Appetite: Part III

Some chocoloate bars that you don't see up in the Northern Hemisphere:

Mars: Honeycomb

If you know me at all, you'll know that Crunchie sits at the top of my all-time favourite chocolate bar list... and Mars definitely sits closer to the bottom.

BUT... that was only until...
THE TWO OF THEM MET EACH OTHER IN THE MIDDLE:

According to Wikipedia, this is a limited edition Mars bar that is only available in Australia... which is really too bad for all of you guys up there.  "Whipped honeycomb flavoured nougat, topped with caramel covered in thick Mars chocolate". So pretty much what you're looking at when you bite into this baby is the same genetic make-up as your boring old Mars bar EXCEPT the soft nougat is GOLDEN and tastes like the sponge-toffee filling of a Crunchie chocolate bar. Yum.

This Mars has stepped it up a lot, but Crunchie still stands at the top of my podium.

Chomp

Described as wafer and caramel, coated in milk chocolate. Its definitely has more chew than a crispness that you might expect from the wafer but the perfect amount of chocolate coating ties it all together allowing you to taste all the inside flavours. It has a sweeter flavour than you expect which sets it apart from other chocolate bars with a similar make-up. It's longer and thinner than any other bar which makes it visually pleasing and urges you to pick it up and try it out!

Definitely enjoyed this one!

Boost

Another delicious treat found exclusively in the land of OZ. Boost... mmm.

"Smooth textured chocolate flavoured center with crunchy biscuit pieces surrounded in flowing caramel, all covered in Cadbury's world famous Cadbury milk chocolate."

If that doesn't convince you, I don't know what else on this Earth possibly could. This chocolate bar is an excellent combination of chew, crunch, and smooth deliciousness. And if there wasn't enough chocolate for you in the original... this Max Choc limited edition will have you... choc caramel and choc biscuit. mmm.

Picnic

"A unique combination of peanuts, wafer, caramel & rice crisps covered in delicious Cabury milk chocolate".

This one is pretty much a Mr. Big I think. Its chewy with just a slight crisp in the middle... and you can never go wrong with peanuts. mmmm

Violet Crumble

I sincerely apologize for cheating on you Crunchie... I know you two are rivals and people are either on team Crunchie, or team Violet Crumble. If this chocolate bar existed in Canada, I would have to switch teams. Chocolate coated sponge toffee (or honeycomb as they call it down here), both are as simple as that but when you compare the two they are just so different. The chocolate coating on the Violet Crumble is slightly darker and better quality than its Crunchie competition and when you get down to the honeycomb it is lighter and cripsier with almost a more marshmellowy taste. Oh my yummmm.

Sincerely,
AUS
