Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat

Autumn has always meant back to school, so I guess the cooler weather kind of makes it feel normal to finally be settling down from travelling and actually spending time going to class, doing school work, and studying for tests. Although every class is only once a week and some aren't even every week, not to mention that 4 of those hours consist of either playing sports in class or playing sports with children at a local deaf school...so that accounts for about 7-11 hours of weekly activities.
Rising in the morning becomes more difficult every day. Its hard to flip the blankets off and expose yourself to the cold at such an early hour for a class in which they don't care if you walk in 40 minutes late. Once I'm up, dressed, and have my hot oatmeal in my tummy, I make my way to school.
Good morning Newport. Next task after getting out of bed is getting on a train. Most people check the schedules in order to catch a consistent train every morning whereas myself, being used to the TTC and leaving the house with jjjjust enough time to get to class on time just get there and hope there will be one shortly. Its about a 5-10 minute trip (depending on the amount of running I end up doing if I see the train approaching) from the house to Newport train station. Recently, there have been a ridiculous amount of train delays and if you can see a train leaving and you're not on it there is the chance that you won't see another one for quite some time... but rolling into class late is the norm at Vic Uni it seems, so its not too much of a problem.
10 minute ride to Footscray, unless you catch the express (sweet), then about a 8-13 minute walk to campus (depending on how many creepy homeless people you want to speed by on the way).
Once I'm at school there is minimal time spent in lecture because of my low-key course load.Typically, I'm not much of a library dweller because I'm too easily distracted and hate feeling like I'm in a cell but the Vic Uni library is not quite the cubicle-filled dungeons I'm used to. There seem to be more couches and lounging surfaces than desks and if the people on the quite floor were to act the same way on 4th and 5th floor Weldon they would probably be shot. These days it seems like the better option for doing work though... seeing as though I can sit at a table rather than in my bed under the covers because my house in unbearably cold. So, I'll go to lecture/the gymnasium, steep some tea, then make my way over to the outdoor seating at the cafe if its sunny or head into the library where I usually end up running into someone I know and end up not reallllly getting work done.
Wednesday you can catch me and the Canadian crew in these bad-ass polos a.k.a our Sport Science uniforms that we need to wear around the kids.
Student life at VU is not quite what it is at Western, and neither are academics... but I think I can deal with a random free BBQ along with a side of free beers/ciders for lunch on campus.
My walk home from school usually consists of a few stops at Asian produce markets where I grab some well-priced fresh fruit and veggies for the fridge as well as some samples they cut up for an afternoon snack!

The end of school is near and for once I have zero exams during the official exam period. Only one assignment left and a couple in class tests and I'll be finished year three of uni! Oh and back to Grampians National Park tomorrow for 6 days of camping and rock climbing!
Sincerely,
AUS
