An Aussie Appetite: Part VIII

Parma.

No burger and fries down here!

The Aussies are all about their chicken parma and chips when they are seeking out pub food! I saw this extremely popular meal range from very cheap prices served in a meal deal with a "pot" of beer for $10 to a more gourmet and fancy approach that was upwards of $30. I also saw a very wide range of sizes this bad body can come in... getting to be pretty much larger than my head in circumference (or a normal person's sized head, since mine is quite small).

Parma: slang used for chicken parmigiana.

Its a (often enormous) chicken breast that is crubmed, fried, and topped with red napoli tomato sauce, chopped ham and cheese (not parmesan though...) and for a veggie option eggplant will replace the chicken. Its baked until the cheese is bubby and brown and served with hot chips and a salad... and sometimes a pot (a very little beer..see picture)

I couldn't explain why this spin on an Italian dish is so popular down under... but it sure is yummy!

Sincerely,
AUS
